1. INTERPRETATION:
“ALC” means Avril’s Language Centre.
“student” means a person who avails of any of the services.
“services” means the language services supplied by GLC to a student.


2. QUERIES AND COMPLAINTS:
Notification of queries and/or complaints must be notified to ALC in writing within fourteen days of the problem arising or fourteen days of completion of the services whichever is the earlier.


3. FEES:
Unless another fee is quoted by ALC in writing and accepted by the student the fee for the services is ALC’s relevant standard fee for the particular services. Fees do not include additional items or services not agreed in advance. ALC reserves the right to alter fees on giving reasonable notice.


4. LOCAL TAXES:
Unless expressly advised all prices are inclusive of any Government taxes or duties.


5. PAYMENT TERMS:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing by ALC the student shall make all payments due to ALC on the following terms:
 
1. 10% on booking the particular course provided by ALC;
2. the entire balance at least fourteen days before the date of commencement of the particular course.

The student shall make all payments in Euro.


6. CANCELLATIONS:
Cancellations must be in writing and given to ALC by the student or on the student’s behalf at least seven days prior to the date of commencement of the relevant course. If such notice is received within the correct time all fees will be refunded except for the 10% booking fee.

If cancellation occurs between seven days and twenty-four hours before the date of commencement of the particular course then 50% of the relevant fee will be refunded.
No fees will be refunded after twenty-four hours before the date of commencement of a particular course.

7. INSURANCE:
Students attending ALC classes only are insured only on ALC’s premises.

Students attending ALC for its all inclusive summer programme are insured under the general Summer Schools’ Public Liability Scheme for their entire stay.
Students must arrange their own insurance against all costs, expenses and claims that might arise due to accident, illness, loss of baggage, personal effects or money.

Any student who participates in any sport whether arranged by ALC or otherwise which involves a risk to their health or safety or a risk of personal injury does so at their own risk and acknowledges that they will not have any claim against ALC for any personal injury, loss or damage arising from their involvement in such activity.
Any student under the age of eighteen years must have a Waiver signed by their parent or guardian before they participate in any such activity.

8. INDEMNITY/DAMAGE:
A student is fully liable for any damage caused by him or her to any other person or property and payment for such damage must be made by such student immediately on demand by any party for such payment.
Each student indemnifies ALC against any claims that might arise from any act or omission of such student giving rise to a claim for personal injuries, loss and damage by a third party.

9. HEALTH:
ALC must be advised of any physical or mental health or behavioural problems of any student at the time of booking. Students are responsible for their own medical expenses and students from EU member states should arrange for a Medical Certificate Form EHIC (or similar document) to issue before leaving their own country.

10. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS:
ALC is closed on all public holidays and fees will not be refunded and classes will not be replaced in respect of such public holidays.


11. CHANGES OF DATES:
ALC will endeavour to accommodate students who wish to change the date of their course provided adequate notice is given but makes no guarantee that this will be possible.


12. ABSENCE OF TEACHERS:
In the event of a teacher not arriving in class due to illness, accident or other unforeseen circumstances ALC will do its utmost to find a replacement teacher and in the event that this is not possible the particular class or lesson will be cancelled and fees will not be refunded for that day.


13. NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS:
The maximum number of participants in the evening classes will be six students and the maximum number of participants in the summer school classes will be fifteen students.


14. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
ALC reserves the right to change or replace a notified extra curricular activity if this become necessary and will endeavour to replace the cancelled activity with another activity of a similar type and value.


15. SUB-CONTRACTING:
ALC may in its discretion delegate any of its functions in the provision of its services.


16. APPLICATION:
These Conditions shall apply to the services provided by ALC to the student and no other terms shall apply in respect of such services.


17. GOVERNING LAW:
These Conditions shall be governed by Irish Law.
 
18. From time to time photographic material of our students may be used in promotional material for ALC, either on the website or in brochures. Photographs will not be passed on to third parties.

19. We reserve the right to move a student from one host family to another if we deem it necessary.
